Sonos Hometown Hifi
The sound systems that came out of 1960s Jamaican dancehalls led to a local revolution that changed global music culture. Imprint Projects worked with curator Seb Carayol to tell this story through an exhibition of ephemera and film. Artifacts included King Tubby’s original Hometown Hifi sound system salvaged from a yard in Kingston, a DIY dub mixer, rare photography and an iPad app so that visitors could make their own “dubs.” Artist featured in the exhibition included Scientist, Mad Professor, King Jammy, Beth Lesser, Tero Kaski, and Stone Love.
As Sonos’ creative partner, Imprint Projects led the creative direction, exhibition production, and event programming for Hometown Hifi. As Senior Project Manager, I managed the client, exhibition production, design production, budget and project timeline.
